I didn't take the wife to any saw mills on our honeymoon but, there was a search for wood involved.
I provided all the wood needed and still do to this day.
I'm not as good as I once was but, I'm as good once as I ever was.
I'm old but I ain't dead yet.

In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird , and they take Prozac to make it normal.
Never worked with it yet. Supposedly the same mass and feel as cherry. There can be issues with it if it is not dried correctly/enough as it comes out of the ground 100% saturated. The biggest difference in working with it once dried over other woods is is to achieve the best results sand it down to at least 1200 grit to get the shimmer effect.
I have built two cabs from Kauri and it is not my favorite wood to work with. For wood that can be upwards of 50,000 years old I expected it to be hard. It is surprisingly delicate and dents/ scrapes easily.
I sanded the cabs up to 2400 grit before staining and they really do look 3D.
