Clean channel is 124 more or less (100k plates). OD follows the "Early 80's grail tone" schem (thanks!) with Gil's OD entrance mod (50n/4M7) and post OD treble bleed. Reverb is Gary's (thanks a lot!) single tube reverb with a type 9 accutronics.
Preamp plus PI tubes have 12V DC heaters.
No real tests so far since as a bass player I just have a crappy Strat at home. So far I can just tell that it is not noisy at all and that the reverb is really nice! I did the reverb layout so a 12DW7 would work. Sounds perfect with a 12AX7 though. Therefore I didn't try it with a 12DW7 yet.
Preamp plate voltages are on the lower side (185-190).
Dropping string is 2k2 22k 2k2. So probably I will decrease the 22k.
Reverb is powerd from a separate 4k7/22u 22k/22u string taken from B+2. There is a little reverb hum with reverb close to max but luckily it definitley is no issue.
PI trimming is a bit strange. I have 100k/110k with a 10k trim. Tried to do the 400Hz/second order harmonics approach with a dummy load for adjustment. Second order harmonics increase the more I turn the trim pot down (i.e. giving 100k and 120k between wiper and the plates). Plate voltages are something like 15V appart then (in the range of 290-300V). Tried with two different PI tubes so far with results beeing more or less the same. Any ideas?
Will have to do the layout for the faceplates now. I'm planning to do them with alucorex. It's some photosensitzed black anodized aluminium made by Bungard that can be exposed and etched similar to PCBs.
Will report back how the alucorex works out and of course once the first real tests are done also how she sounds
Thanks again to all you of you for making this build possible!
Wish you all a happy 2009!
Regards,
Markus
