Some more clips of the 3 channel build (layout attached)
Where there's always more to do, I think it's starting to get there. Give a listen.....
I used the 4 - 10's in the Super Reverb build, Weber SigS 10's. Each clip is of one channel using 3 guitars, a MIM Strat, a Hamer EchoTone (335 style) and my #1 PRS Standard.

Re: Some more clips of the 3 channel build (layout attached)
I finished up the layout. If you want to do a plain Dumble, without the Fender channel, just eleminate everything connected to V1.
I've got a list of additional changes that I'll be testing over the next few weeks, but the layout shouldn't change.

Nice sound Bob. I'm hard pressed to pick which clean channel I like better.
I don't think I'll build a 3 channel just yet as I'm challenged just to get a 2 channel model together. Congrats on a nice amp.

You do the best layouts bob:) im sure ill be stealing some ideas off that...
Re: Some more clips of the 3 channel build (layout attached)
I listened to all 3 clips and have to say that all channels sound Great to me. Awsome playing to Bob. After I get done with my first ODS I believe I have to do one based on your layout. Again wonderfull sounding amp. Thank's Chad
Re: Some more clips of the 3 channel build (layout attached)
Sounds awesome, Bob! Cleans are gorgeous on both channels. Nice top end on the OD as well. I prefer "sizzle" on the top over "cream" for most of my stuff and your amp has definately got it. And...it's Crunchy!!!
I did hear a little bit of buzziness in the upper mids, but nothing obnoxious. What mid cap are you using?

How do you switch between the Fender and the Dumble channel?

There's a relay at the output of the channels.Tdale wrote:How do you switch between the Fender and the Dumble channel?

I have a .047uF in there now. I'm thinking of switching to a .01 or .022, but it sounds so good... I may just leave well enough alone.I did hear a little bit of buzziness in the upper mids, but nothing obnoxious. What mid cap are you using?
Re: Some more clips of the 3 channel build (layout attached)
Bob that fender clean channel blows me away.. before i thought the dumble one was better... think im losing my mind:) the fender one is mp3 #1 yes?
Re: Some more clips of the 3 channel build (layout attached)
You just might be losing your mind.... or the different speakers might have changed the charactor of the channel.Icetech wrote:Bob that fender clean channel blows me away.. before i thought the dumble one was better... think im losing my mind:) the fender one is mp3 #1 yes?
Yes clip #1 is the Fender channel.
Once I was able to crank it up a HeeBee's today I found that the Dumble clean is not as clean as the Fender clean. There's a grainyness to the Dumble clean that isn't in the Fender clean. The Fender stays crystal clean up to about 6 on the dial.
Re: Some more clips of the 3 channel build (layout attached)
bob, if you had to choose 1 tone stack.. the dumb or fender.. what do you think you would go with? from hearing yours the fender sounds better to me and looks easier to wire....
I have mine apart right now and am trying to decide on a stack to use.. i had sheldons in there, but i think i messed it up or something.. the mid seems to control if i have bass and mid.. kinda odd:)

Re: Some more clips of the 3 channel build (layout attached)
For Overdrive the Dumble is far superior, the clean tone is great on both but the Fender has more range.Icetech wrote:bob, if you had to choose 1 tone stack.. the dumb or fender.. what do you think you would go with? from hearing yours the fender sounds better to me and looks easier to wire....
I drew up this layout awhile ago. It's pretty easy to follow. I'd rip all the wires out of yours and start again using this layout.I have mine apart right now and am trying to decide on a stack to use.. i had sheldons in there, but i think i messed it up or something.. the mid seems to control if i have bass and mid.. kinda odd:)
Also, if you can post pictures it might help to troubleshoot.

one odd thing though.. my OD channel has gone quiet.. like half the volume of the clean channel.. might be a cold solder joint or something... gonna keep lookin..
Also... i have a like "fuzz" around the notes.. mainly if you attack hard, its on the clean channel and the OD channel.. kinda sounds like when you keep playing after hitting the power switch.. that draining caps sound...
Doh.. and i forgot to put that 4.7m from treb cap to ground.. will do now.. I am curious though.. 4.7 being a TON of resistance.. what does that do exactly?
