Spitake #15 (Spitfire Type Build)
My first amp build was a rendition of the old Fender MusicMaster Bass amp that I have now converted into essentially a Spitfire type of amp. The chassis is 12 X 7 and I figured correctly that it would be a tight fit.

I decided to change wire for the filaments to solid core 18AWG. The stranded PVC I was using just couldn't take the heat, and I couldn't stand the look of it.

Looking good!
A friend of mine had an old Spitfire and I remember liking it when I played through it.

Re: Spitake #15 (Spitfire Type Build)
I know it's been said if you don't have Matchless iron, it's not going to sound like a Spitfire. So I used the preamp layout, added some Z touches in some places and some of the ideas in the last Rocket I built, so I would suspect it doesn't sound that much like a Spitfire. It certainly beats what was in there before this build. I'm now in the process of changing the tone stack to something Z uses in his Stangray and Ghia. I'll try and see what values work best for this layout. But thanks for the look.

Looks very nice! Which type/model transformers did you end up using?
