Don't forget to upgrade all of your amp's internal wiring to at least 14AWG as well. If you don't, all those free-flowing electrons will stack up at the power switch and cause an arc!

I wrote semi-nonsense words like these for decades. Not so silly, I hope.

I don't mind the fat wire claims as much as the digital ones: "My bits are better than their bits."

My favorites are the arc welder size speaker cables, a few feet of fat copper speaker cable (in the case of tube amps) coming off a few hundred feet of transformer secondary going to a few hundred feet of usually aluminum voice coil.

Personally, I like my snake oil in hardwood puck shape. Here, but this under your amplifier, and everything will sound more present!

You don't think a power cord can make any noticeable change?

Most of you know a guitar cord can.

Then you probably believe all resistors sound the same, and all caps sound the same.

At $1,000 a meter, you need to save somehow.

Beefs up your amp's power supply
Makes your amp sound bigger
Improves your amp's touch-sensitivity
Tightens your bottom end

Really?
Tom

Don't let that smoke out!

Some do. Many don't.

There are a few things that produce a real improvement.

And a LOT of spurious rubbish sold by those who want to make a buck on those who are looking for that real improvement but 1) think they're going to save money by buying the slightly cheaper (or sometimes more expensive) version and B) need to show how cool they are by buying the ersatz = emperor's new clothes all over again and again and. . . . .

Personally I've never detected an audio improvement due to power cord replacement, other than making an item power up that had a defective cable... but then again I'm not in position to audition cables that cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. The argument has been made, and I think it's accurate, that there's a long skinny "extension cord" between your outlet and the "pole pig" transformer. If you invest in one of the super dooper AC cables and genuinely believe you hear an improvement, who am I to argue?

With guitar cables, caps, resistors, iron, pickups, wood, yeah I agree with you, definitely, quality levels are evident.

Amusing reading recently, an EV manual for a powered mixer, recommending the user NOT use coily guitar cords to connect to speakers. Yes, that would be bad... real bad.
down technical blind alleys . . .
