Especially since they really don't show very good images of the products or it may be totally wrong.

I have ordered many things that I didn't want or could use.

After a while you get the hand of what they have and what they don't.

But I always have to order from multiple sources to get what I want.

I have a local surplus place that has those NTE components.
Not sure who makes those metal film but they seem to be pretty consistent.
Hi Tom,

Many thanks for the link.

Hi Structo,

Do you have a link to the RN65D in Mouser? I might try em if I could them in mouser.com

I swear Mousers catalog search feature is the most non-intuitive feature. I order stuff for my business and if you don't have a part number from a prior invoice you can't find it worth a darn. All I could find in 100K resistor was 1/4 watt

I use PRP metal films for cathode resistors (not from Mouser) at least I can find what I am looking for without tearing my hair out.
Part #: RN65D 100K

Hi Tone Merc.

Thanks for the Link, (which I first credited to Structo, ) for the Mouser Catalog. Come to think of it a thank you to all the Ampgarage contributors.

Best Regards,

Steve

This is the RG 400 cable.
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/e ... ctors6.php
I made up 2 cables for my Dumblelator. 5 ft. each. about 160pf for each cable. At the time ,I didn't want to cut too much highs, but I could have went 6 or 7ft.

Thanks again to all that chipped in with the resistor info. They had the NTE 1/2 watts at my local shop.

The other 2 parts that are proving hard to find are the .05 715's. Mouser has 6PS in .05 and AES .047 but no 715's at .05.

Also does any one have the 1uf tant presence cap part number? I know I've seen it but I can't seem to find it with the search function

Thanks

Deric, do 716Ps work?

AES says this: "These are a high performance version of the 715P series."

If they don't have 'em in stock, I could snail mail you a pair of .047s on Monday if you wish.

All the best.

715 aren't made in 0.05 afaik. 0.047 is more than close enough though!

Thanks for the offer. I have some other caps in .047 that I'm going to try, I was just being specific with the 715s.

I've always thought or heard of the 716 series as being more for HiFi use.

Thanks again

You're welcome.

Here are the spec sheets for both the 15 & 716Ps in case you would like to compare:

http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/715p.pdf

http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/716p.pdf

Standard values are .047 and .056, no .050!

And, yes the 716Ps are usually considered HiFi, but I thought the 715Ps were also considered HIFI, that's why I thought you could substitute them.

All the best.

Speaking of Tantalum caps.
Have any of you auditioned different types of caps for the presence cap?

I have had a 1uF Tant in there as well as an 1uF and 2.2uF aluminum E cap.

Didn't really notice any difference in tone.

I thought I read somewhere here that HAD has the 1uF tant cap polarity in backwards in #124?

I tried to find a picture of that but no luck.

Up until the last few I was using small poly caps and honestly I can't tell any difference between the poly and tant. Yes, the cap in #124 is backwards.
