Re: 100 Watt Output Transformer
Really?
Yes, Triode Electronics sells the Magnetic Components transformers.
That is what I bought, the PT OT and choke for a Twin Reverb.
Are you saying the OT is not a 2K primary?
This is the 40-18013 100w 2K 4, 8, 16 ohm output transformer.
http://www.classictone.net/40-18013.html
Amps Used In: Showman**, Showman Reverb**, Dual Showman**, Dual Showman Reverb**, Twin Reverb**, Twin Reverb 100**, Quad Reverb 100**, Super Six Reverb 100**, Bassman 100**, '65 Twin Reverb Reissue**, Vibrasonic*
Description: Mounting = 2-3/8" x 3-1/4". This is the 4/8/16 Ohm version of the classic! Paper layer wound output transformer for that ultimate tone! Uses the best cool running, M-6 grain oriented steel for incredible performance! A great variant offering multiple impedances of 4, 8 and 16 Ohms!
The Twin transformer that AES sells now is a Hammond.
Although they do carry an OT for a Tonemaster which is a newer 100w Fender amp.
Specifications:
Wattage : 100
Primary Impedance (Ohms): 2350
Secondary Impedance (Ohms): 4, 8, 16
Mounting Centers : 3.5" x 2.5" vertical
Weight: 6.25 lbs
That is a 4 x 6L6 amp, why do they use a 2350 ohm primary?

Re: 100 Watt Output Transformer
No they measure 2K P/P. but the primary and secondary windings are of a different construction than the original schumachers. Meaning that the actual number of turns is probably different, the gauge of the wire is different etc etc.
There are a lot of ways to spin up a 2K transformer.
If I remember tonight I will look up the measurements I took a while back and post them.

Re: 100 Watt Output Transformer
Another interesting point is that the vintage Showman trannies were about 1900 p/p (measured) as compared to a twin part that was 2K.

Re: 100 Watt Output Transformer
Hammond has a Fender line. The 4/8/16 2000 ohm OT is 1760W. Dave Allen was selling/recommending them for a while. I bought a Heyboer from Brandon. I won't be able to get at the HTS number 'til Monday.

Tweed Twin OT
Henry, what is it that makes the Mercury FTHPT-OMA so great, is it the hi-power tweed Twin part or the Mercury Magnetics part?
I had always heard that the Triad tweed OTs were higher quality than the Schumacher BF OTs, is that the answer?

Wow, those go for $190!heisthl wrote:Tom - go all out and get a Mercury FTHPT-OMA, huge sound
Well I already bought the MC trannys.
@ Brian, interestingly I got an email last night from Triode Electronics stating they were temporarily out of the 1804 PT.........
****tards.
I really have a problem with an Ebay auction where you buy it now and it turns out the part you just bought is out of stock.
Isn't there a rule against that?
Lisa from Triode said they will ship it to me Wed. the 29th.
Not really a problem because I don't have any of the other parts but just the same, when I buy something listed on ebay I don't want an later email telling me they are out of stock.
Especially when the ebay ad says they have 4 bundles in stock.

Triode Electronics
I've had backorders with them too, on more than one occasion. I order directly from the website, not on E-Bay.
Re: 100 Watt Output Transformer
Well you are dealing with the same company, same people.
It's just another marketing tool for them.
But what I find objectionable is the Ebay ad said they had 4 sets in stock.
Apparently not.
