I find it strange that the chassis are so different between #182 and #183.
Apparently #182 is HRM.

Also a shot of #184 built in 1987

Like the ebay of 1998, it was the wild west. Hats off to the pioneers.

I believe 183 was ordered somewere around the early 80's to mid 80's and delivered in 1989

My question for the few in the know is why turn back now? The picture was posted and I'm sure it's being passed via email to anyone who wants it. It was nice to see a productive thread that brought new info to the group. Does the current owner of 183 feel the amp will loose $10K in value if the world sees a picture of the chassis?

**********************************************

No I believe the value just went up 20K LoL

As stated by Scott , Their's more to the story than just a photo

They were not built sequentially. According to the original owner, 183 was started, then several other amps were built and delivered before his was. His amp was finished years later. He was not happy about it.

Tom, why do you think so? Because of the description on Rob's site?

Cheers,

Yes from that description.
Do you have different information about it?

I believe I know the fellow with #182. 6L6 HRM with feedback on V1!! And a bigger OD1 cap than the .0022 we are used to.

#185 is one that Brandon has been in.... Another 6L6 HRM with some twists.

No, but many people in Dumbleland - including many dealers -thought for at least some time (and perhaps still think?) that an ODS with a Skyline EQ allways is an HRM amp, too. Because of this (and some more general reasons) I am always a bit cautious in regard to such a kind of "marketing description", and was curious, if perhaps you may know more. I sometimes wonder about the "DEEP" switch on the front of an amp with this series # and what looks like a three part chassis.

Tom, have a great time,

Yes I have seen some of his chassis that have the wood sides.

I believe #183 is like this.

Strange that earlier amps had all aluminum chassis.

No the angles of the front and rear panel are too sharp to be bent.
It looks like U shape extruded aluminum pieces front and back with a sheet connected to the pieces for the bottom.
Wood sides with foil glued on.

He also milled out the gradient dials on the tkt amp...that must have took some time... they don't all line up proper either....I bet that drove him nuts!
