"Dumbles rule while your other amps drool" all kidding aside #183 is one great sounding amp and you've yet to post anything else anywhere that sounds better. JMHOTag wrote:Here is Dumble #183 doing Politician. No Dumblator, no special cables, just straight in. SM57 stuck dead center into a TwoRock cab. Delay added at board. Sorry for the digital clipping, as I had it to hot. PRS Artist 3 guitar. Second clip is with a335 into G12 H30s (Digital clipping, to hot) Third is a great sounding TwoRock E.Pro same way. Very similar tones with a lot of straing right from the amp.

+1 the dumble blew the other two away and im not just saying that because it's a dumble. The two rock sounded pretty good too but i wouldnt even touch the Mesa, yuckTonegeek wrote:Well, if we are voting I am for 1,3,2 in that order. On Clip #1 the amp just seems to respond in a variety of pleasing ways to pick attack which I did not hear as much on the other clips. Clip 3 sounded good, but slightly scooped, but the eq on clip 1 seemed even and full. Then, when you start the solo, it almost sounds like there is a wah-wah turned on. Very cool... Clip 2 seemed too distorted. Nice phrasing on all clips.
what speakers are in the 2 Rock cab?

I have to apologize, Tag, for saying this amp [in another clip] was [comparatively] unremarkable. Although my comment stressed personal taste and was about the 'horn' like attack envelope in one of Funk's clips:heisthl wrote:... #183 is one great sounding amp and you've yet to post anything else anywhere that sounds better. Hey thanks for the advice. I thought a Dumblator might contribute, but wasn't sure. But I also agree that a more open natural sound is a better choice generally. I just wanted to experience the horn thing.Tag wrote:For that horn like attack, just use a Dumblator and squash the signal. When I want that sound, thats what I use, but I have found that I prefer the much more open tone you get without the Dumblator. The TwoRock Emerald Pro is the master of that horn like squash. Super slow attack and LOOONG note bloom.LPSGME wrote:...about the 'horn' like attack envelope in one of Funk's clips:

- I find that horn attack envelope harder to achieve than a sustaining Brit type rock sound.

There's an interesting clip comparing a Dumbleator and Klienulator (a FET version) on the Ceriatone forum;Max wrote:Interesting.Tag wrote: For that horn like attack, just use a Dumblator and squash the signal. May be you posted it before and I missed it:
What kind of Dumblelator do you use and what kind of cables to connect it?
Cheers
