Vibro Champ mod - RAW on a pedal
Hi, I have this Vibro Champ I built a while back and was thinking it would be nice to have a boost thats RAW based. Question is - I can run a wire to the rear of the amp above the pots and to the left and around near the Trem jack. This could be under the lip of the chassis and out of the way from all other wires. I could even go with a shielded run from the 15k Mid resister. That way I have it on a boost pedal switch instead of a front panel switch, more available for a switch to lead.
Make sense? Is the shielded run a must.

Shielded cable is required inside the chassis and between the chassis and footswitch.

Copy thanks. What about isolation washers for the Jack?

If you’re wanting to lift the ground to bypass the tonestack, the whole wire will be like an antenna when it’s opened and floating the tonestack. It would be much better not to run a long wire even if it was shielded. That’s my 2 cents
I know it’s not what you want. The best thing to do is to wire it with the expectation that it won’t work and see what happens. While the tonestack is active and the wire is simply grounded the resistor, it’s probably no impact but once open the antenna is present.

What about a multi conductor shielded wire using the shield (grounded at one end only) to stop antennae effect.
Steve you are saying that isolation washer in not necessary?

I used this method on my Rocket w/Reverb and did not have any issues.

this is best handled by a relay (maybe a vactrol?). keep inside the amp signals inside the amp or like mentioned you're asking for trouble

Yes, I understand not looking for noise. Its easy to try. Also found this. Clip the tail 68k.

No Bueno, as you said Paul, its a big antennae. The small SPST switch does work, no noise. It certainly does increase the gain and distortion of the amp. Maybe a Raw pot, small one is a better way to go.
