I'm getting a new set from Pacific next week for about $240.

Re: pacific..
Great price! I needed a 5V tap on the PT, hence the added price from Pacific.redshark wrote:I just got a set from Allyn, it was 170.
I have a question....does anyone has the wiring diagram for the pacific set, both power and output...thanks!!

Re: price for Transformers
Actually, I'm trying the Pacific trannies for a big bottle rocket-type build. It should be interesting at best.redshark wrote:express with tube rectifier? that sounds good!!

Re: price for Transformers
is that a rocket with kt66's and GZ34?
if that is the case I would like to recommend gold lion reissue kt66, is good!!!, better than chinese and JJ's.
I used it on a JTM45 build, great tone.

Re: price for Transformers
yes kt66s would be correct. I was wondering about which brand of tube to use. I was going to try a few different ones. I bet those Gold Lion reissues sound terrific. A little spendy though, I bet.
Re: price for Transformers
I used chinese first, then JJ and then Gold lions. I think they have the best breakup, and in a tw inspired build they will make a diference for sure. I would spend the little extra again if I needed KT66's, trust me is worth it.

Re: price for Transformers
Tube depot and they were nicely matched. Only 1 or 2 mA diference.

Here is the PT schematic.

Re: price for Transformers
redshark - What was the brand OT you used for the JTM45 build? I used a stock Marshall version and was not too impressed actually. What is the secondary impedence? The Marshall OT was 7500 ohms, BTW.
I have never tried the Gold Lion RIs but I have tried the Genelex KT66s here, originals. Finally ended up with the J/Js. Now I will rethink this.

Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?
jtm45
I used a heyboer output transformer for my JTm45.
I haven't heard real genelex kt66 which are supposed to be really good but as said before I tested 3 diferent new production kt66s and i can say is that BY FAR gold lion reissue is the best, at least to my ears.
