RN65 & PS-series in europe ?
Anyone know a source to order Vishay Dale RN65 metal film resistors and PS series Orange Drops in europe ?
I´ve searched on few european amp-part-suppliers pages but they are mainly 715 series and no RN65's.
My tone is not 'right'. There is too much harshnes in it..
I have two metal-oxides on the plates and just was told today that they might give a dull tone while using them in there.
Just would like to buy few 'right' components for my Normster-layout-Clone.
Any info much appreciated,

I'll be looking forward to the day when there is a good european supplier for these components....

Are you sure? That clip you posted sounded fine to me! Good luck in your search. If you have no luck let me know what values you need ( i have some extra's and I'll send them to you if I have them.

One thing that you can do to smooth out the harshness is to replace the plate resistors and slope resistor with 1W carbon films if Dales are not available. They can really smooth out the tone. I would take CF's any day over garden variety MF's.
If you can not get the PS, then try XICON MPP and PP. They are also VERY nice.

I think I have listened too closely too long for it
What I need is 13 caps and 11 resistors, so its quite a lot
If someone is going to shop RN65 & PS's in near future, it would be nice to make some kind of arragment

A couple notes on that clip:
I did that with a full-hollow-body jazz guitar on the bridge pickup. That's where much of the feedback comes from.
There are a couple of tricks in that circuit that really make a big difference in the sound as compared to the Hybrid A. The tonestack values are somewhat different (see https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=617 ), and there are some other significant differences as well. If you haven't already, talk to Dogears.

I have not yet tried those resistors but in general I do not have a problem sourcing parts from the US. You just have to be aware of the customs and local import VAT which comes on top of the goods' price and shipping. If you buy locally VAT is already included.

I would like to remove the harshnes but not the bite. What I like is that the amp has a very little 'hair' but not harshnes
When putting the master volume up, the harshness gets smaller and the sound gets sweeter but there is some kind of 'dullnes' or 'lifeliness' on the mid range sound. Hard to describe it in english.
I also did put 3-position switches to change both snubbers sepatretively (was 326p, 329p) between 400p,470p,570p. I hear very little change between them but the change from 330p I can hear.
I'm following dogears post (conversation about powering the reverb from B+3 and isolating it somehow) very closely. Hope it pushes my clone closer to the d-nirvana
cheers,
mat

Yes I know I can order the resistors from Mouser. Actually it is the price and hassle of the Finnish Toll-department that sucks. I have to pay extra if the shipments value is more than 20 euros. The shipment price is also calculated on the value of the shipment

Ok, I'll try the values on the link. As for dogears, he has hekped me a lot on my build
Your tone is so Fuchs to me
Thanks

Same problem here in Norway, except that usually I don't have to pay tax, but that's because I order small amounts.
The shipping cost is usually pretty expencive, so an european, or even norwegian supplier would be great. There are of course some big suppliers in Norway, but they don't have the parts that usually are used in guitar amps.. (Orange Drop, Sprague, Vishay, Alpha pots etc.)

Mat,
Don't use the carbon films. Stick with the RN. Bandaiding the build is not good. If it is harsh, the problem lies elsewhere.
Try a 390ohm resistor in place of your choke. That will sweeten things.
Put back the 220k that feeds the 100k OD trimmer.
Try raising the the resistor that feeds the OD level pot from a 150k to a 180k
Try raising the resistor that feeds the OD drive pot from a 100k to a 110k
Make sure your CL2 bypass cap around the 220k grid is a full 500pf. Not 470pf. 500pf. Add a small cap in parallel to test.
Try running your master volume directly to the phase inverter. Lift your reverb circuit out temporarily. Also disconnect the B+ from it. Add the 150k to ground on B+5 to reduce the voltages back down.
Try adding a little capacitance to the bypass cap on CL2. You have 1uf. Try adding a .22 to .47uf cap there. It does fatten things.
Lemme know what you think!

Scott, he doesn't have them and can't find a source.
