My wreck conversion/clone.

Post by JamesHealey »

Here is a 1973 Carlsbro 60TC converted into a wreck.

Blasphemy I know, but I got the amp for £100 and I needed a wreck in my life.

The layout is different due to the chassis but i've used Polyester Orange Drops, Carbon Film resistors, F&T Filter caps, Silvered Mica caps.

Only differences from Francesca are as follows:

Transformers & B+ Chain:

Carlsbro Transformers (considering a Toneslut OT)
Zener Diodes to drop B+ to 410v
Carlsbro Bias circuit to produce -37v

Circuit:

68k Grid leak rather than 150k
1n Ceramic and 1n Polyester to make 2n coupling cap as seen on others
150pF PI Fizz cap
47k Feedback resistor

but she's a beauty, sounds fantastic extremely stable all the way up to 10 on every dial, and i've managed to get the noise down to a very acceptable level.

cool conversion. You might want to replace the CC screens for longevity, Try seeing how hot the get before you play the amp at a gig or somewhere else where failure might mean disaster
