here is a build I threw together using twin trannies and some other mods. It sounded stiff at first, so I choked the plate supply with a 100 ohm resistor and did some mods to the presence control to give it more range. I also had to modify the load line to get the preamp voltages close to spec. The PI input and output caps are also different, I used fender AB763 values here. I liked the way they made the amp sound. I used 100K grid leaks for the power tube grids so I could run it hard without tube failures. It has that nice glassy chime when played clean, and snarls with really nice harmonics when pushed with a Les Paul. I'll try to post sound clips. Never did it, and I don't have a mike I'll take finished pics and edit the post
here is the semi-finished product, a work in progress...
thanks chad and funk. I have a 2X12 cab loaded with EVM 12L classics, and it is my "truth box" The EQ of these speakers is flatter than south jersey and produces the true tones of any amp plugged into it. The twinwreck sounded great through it, but with the efficiency of the speakers, the volume level blew the garage doors off. I plugged my 4X12 loaded with heritage greenbacks into it and it is pure heaven with a Les Paul. I have some noise issues with it that seem to be centered around the bright switch/ vloume pot area. If I touch the wires coming off the switch going to the volume pot, I get some violent crackling noises.
