I had a twreck express type amp on ebay and that person contacted ebay and presented himself as Kenneth Fischer

From ebay after they cancelled the listed (refunded my fees though):

"because Kenneth Fischer - Trainwreck reported it to us for violating their intellectual property rights. When eBay is notified by a rights owner of an intellectual property rights infringement, eBay must remove the item in order to meet certain legal requirements"

I found out from ebay the person was SS.

I can see now that my listing should not have made reference to a Trainwreck Express in the title, though I made it clear it wasn't a Trainwreck Express. It was something like "Custom Tube Amp Similar to a Trainwreck Express". The listing is deleted.
But presenting yourself as KF?

Gotcha.. yeah, sucks that ebay is so trigger happy without requiring any sort of ID. Too afraid of litigious ebayers and others I guess. I just thought it was funny that there were already several posts on that none of which seemed to have anything to do with any of the others

Just for clarification on the eBay front: They have a special intellectual property rights function that companies can register for. Ken Fischer, while still alive, put Stephen Silbert in charge of this reportingfunction to eBay. It gives them the right to end an auction when their rights are infringed upon When you list a Kendrick Climax as a Trainwreck, your auction will be shut down for sure. I assume the same with putting Trainwreck in the title of a clone or inspired-by amp. Simple as that as eBay has given them the right to do it.

That doesn't speak badly of eBay to me. Not right to get frustrated with a company who won't let a person mis-represent an item to get attention or sales. Their point is to simply not get their company embroiled in legal battles and it is smart.

There is plenty of market space for the Climax or clones just describing them for what they are.

In all of my dealings with Stephen Silbert I have found him to be a great guy, open to telling me all kinds of stories about Ken and rare Trainwreck amps.

I really don't get this. If I paint a sur-realist piece and put it up on eBay calling it "a Picasso inspired painting by me" will eBay pull that down as well?

Yes if you have a clone and try to sell it off as the real thing that would be illegal & immoral but why can't we say this thing here is a TrainWreck clone or inspired design etc?

Honestly, based on everything I've read on him, through his interviews etc, Ken seems to be more laid back regarding the whole clone & imitate business. He knew he was the best and was not intimidated. True stand up type of person.

What's happening now seems to be a different game.
