Ceria tone kits

Post by playloudd308 »

I have seen recent talk about their express kits, are they any good? I emailed for pics but no responce yet. I have been wanting an express but have VERY little building experience so this kit may be perfect. Im only 17 and have limited funds because ive only got a part time job so i might just get the pre assembled one and tweak when it gets here. Also anyone have any pics? Which layout/shematic is it taken from?

how does the sound compare to your clones?

I haven't heard a Ceriatone amp. It does look good from the pictures I have seen. I think most people have been using Nik's chassis with Moose's transformers. This is what I'd advise you to do, or to ask Nik to build it with Moose's transformers.

I believe the transformers that Nik uses are from his Plexi amp (around 5K-ish) and from his JTM-45 amp (around 6.6K-ish.)

I do wish to point out that I'm not bad mouthing Nik's transformers, I have heard many good things about Nik's transformers.

If you want an amp that sounds extremely close to the Express MAYBE Moose's transformers are worth using, maybe Nik will post some MP-3's and we'll all be using his transformers. I'm purely giving you the safe info.

I hope this helps.

thanks, i could buy the pre assembled board and chasis and just use moose's trannies. I have no clue where all the tranny wires go and my luck after i put it in nothing would work. I have seen other people on the board having trouble with this too because http://www.toneslut.com/transformers/tr ... agrams.gif
is a little hard to follow for me and why i wanted to keep from skrewing anything up.

EDIT

is there any site to go to learn all of this in a simplified format? I am starting from the ground up with almost no experience. This is a hard build and thats why i dont want to do it all myself. Im going to do a few smaller builds before i do another tw clone. thanks for your patience

Check out the layout from the Ceriatone site......

Armed with this you should be able to easily replace the transfomers to whatever you want.
