The Rev Billy G stopped by a Brooks and Dunn Show this past weekend and handed Lou this note... Lou plays one of my non HRM 100 watt customs...Billy G is the reason I started playing guitar first concert I ever saw...Never would have thought!!

Very cool for sure. When I saw B&D a few years ago I was quite impressed with the guitarist and his tone. There was no amp visible so I have no idea what he was using.

BTW, I heard recently that they're planning to pack it in after the current tour. Too bad, they brought us some great music and Ronnie Dunn has an amazing voice.

I wish the Rev was playing my amp's..Maybe hopefully in the future..If that happends I would die a happy man.. I did have the pleasure of meeting him last year on the tour I actually bumped into him in the chow line backstage...He is the coolest man alive...Thanks for the Kudos..

T King got his amp 3 years ago and Lou about 2..If the amps weren't visible chances are they were mine.. Shortly after he made the switch they purchased this huge video screen behind them and cleaned everything off the stage... Lou bitched about not having access to the amps if he needed to get to them but fell on deaf ears..Several months ago made a trip into Nashville hung at Lou's place for a while playing different amps guitars and yes he is a killer player and the nicest person you would ever meet... T

Then I'd bet it was your amp. I've seen a lot of folks at the same venue and his tone stood out as one of the top, along with Warren Haynes and Derrick Trucks and far better than Santana, who IMHO lost a ton of tone when he moved away from this old Boogies.

FWIW the best sounding guitarists are the one's where the amp's are NOT visable. Something about hearing yourself in the monitor that makes you set your tone better for the house mix. Personally I use in ear monitors and keep the amp low enough in volume so that I only hear the monitors. At times I've pulled the plugs and thought, YUCK, but in the FOH the tone is there. JMO

GREAT NEWS!!!! i saw ZZ play weekend before last with Aerosmith, Billy could use a VVT!! his tone sounded very processed.

There seems to be no end to the rumors of what Billy actually uses live.
Some say some Marshall power amps into a iso cab, while others swear he uses digital modeling.

Whatever he uses, he seems to get about the same tone no matter what guitar he uses.
His effects or off stage and switched by his tech, that for sure is true.

He likes to surround himself in mystery and often times feeds disinformation to confuse people.

The last two times I saw Billy one time the music was so processed I didn't like the show at all. The next time it was like they came stripped down ready to play raw Texas ZZ tone. It was sooo good and they even made a huge mistake in one song and they started laughing. I was fun to see ZZ-top bringing it back like they used to play mistakes and all.

In the german magazine Gitarre& Bass...

(yes, I read german . Denmark is a small country with 5.5 mill people - so its probably fair to say that Danish is a nische language, and beside our native tongue, we are taught english, german, swedish and norwegian in school )

... August issue, there is a listing of Billy G's current setup.

Besides the gear listed in the picture below, BG states that they use modelling amps, and that PA sound is a mix of the Marshall JMP-1 nad the modelling amp software.

I guess thats what you use in order to play staions these days....
However, I can se vacant space on of those racks for a pair of Tony's amps
