You will love the Scumback H55. One of my favorites, open or closed back.

Just about any Scumback variation is going to sound killer. I've got two M-75's (65watt) in a closed back cab...and it sounds great with my rocket build.

For fun though, it would be interesting to check out Austin Speaker Works: http://www.austinspeakerworks.com

In particular, the KTS-60. Just a thought. :)

A Client is having an inverted V baffle 2x12 made. It is supposedly a Bill Fitzmaurance design. convertible back. I spoke to Ron at ASW about speaker recommendations and he thought 2 KTS 70's would be ideal.
We will be driving them with my DynaWatt , 44 watt, based loosely on the Express. 8)

I have been running 2 English Vin 30/with 2 Carvin Vin 30 in 412 cab.

Celestion G12H with 25w greenback in open back cab

Vin 30 pair in 212 cab open back

Express in Eminence 212 combo cab

The Rocket works well with most any cab including my Z 212 open back with Celestion blues.

Another voice for a G12-65 style speaker. I haven't tried the Austin speakers yet, but I have a wholebuncha original Celestion G12-65s, and they are my fave overall speaker where power handling is needed. I also have a wholebuncha original Celestion G12M-25s, but I can't use those in a 1x12 configuration with any good conscience. But THAT sound is my fave if power handling isn't a consideration.

I use G12-65s in 1x12, 2x12 and 4x12 configurations. I recently installed a Scumback M75-LHDC (65w, 75Hz) in a customer's 18w-style amp (open-back cab), and that thing sounded FABULOUS right out of the box.

If I didn't have access to original G12-65s, the Scumback is my immediate second choice. Sounds killer with EL84s. Rounds an EL84 right out. To my ears, medium-weight-magnet/large-dust-cover speakers rock.

Well, I'm building a Tele, so this project hasn't really gotten off the ground yet.
BUT..I found a really nicely priced, used 2x12, with a Greenback and GH30, open-back.
I think I'm gonna pick that up instead of doing the 1x12, BUT
does anyone have experience with a Scumback M75?

At the Nashville amp expo last week we had two original Trainwrecks. My '89 Express w/2 basketweave cabs w/old G12M 25s, and an '89 Liverpool into a vox 2x12 combo cab made into an open back extension cab. That cab had a pair of Ken Fischer's personal set of Alnico blue 15 watters. With that Liverpool it was an amazing combination. I had tried reissue blues before in a 4x12 (closed and opened up) with a Liverpool before and I wasn't quite sold on them in the bigger box. However they really work specifically well in the vox ac30 ext. box. I didn't check to see if these blues were originals or early reissue prototypes that I know Ken also had. The blues don't have much low end under 100hz, though they do have a thick peak @ about 250hz which makes them fat on lead work but perhaps not as good for chunky rhythms. The Liverpool is a bright amp but the alnicos seem to compress this extra zing just enough when pushed to balance it all out. As much as I love the old ceramic 25s on an Express the alnicos are quite special w/el84s once you get used to the slight lack of deep bass compared to the big 4x12. GK

Would a 100W Scumback speaker be a bad match, considering the Rocket is around 30W (IIRC)?
