Quote from their wesite: "The input stage of some guitar amplifiers can swamp this sensitivity generating microphony so we recommend you not to use this release of TechTube™ valve in this first valve position without using one of the many dampening devices available
We are Engineers of mind blowing sound and that is what you get with the TechTube™ valve, speed, clarity, smoooothness all combining to give your ears the best experience they will ever have…"
So is it a fragile tube ready to take on the fragile harmonics, or is it a fragile tube that will go microphonic the first time the amp is transported?

I the spirit of HAD, I vote for a tube ready to take on the fragile harmonicsheisthl wrote:Quote from their wesite: "The input stage of some guitar amplifiers can swamp this sensitivity generating microphony so we recommend you not to use this release of TechTube™ valve in this first valve position without using one of the many dampening devices available

Re: Tech tube valves... Anyone try these yet?
There's a massive thread about these on TGP (the last 7 or 8 pages are probably where the meat starts) and the general consensus seems to be that the microphonics pretty much disappear with a few hours' burn-in.
TechTube also are responding to user feedback and have already made improvements since the original launch, and the microphonics is one area they are still actively working on.
They seem to have a great product and a great attitude already, and if they're improving it continually then it looks really promising.
I should probably buy a couple now that plenty of folks are really happy with them and support the local economy!

I paid $168 for 3 including s&h. 1 was so microphonic in my VTV Tester that it just sat there and rang, the ones that were usable I found to be nice, but lacking in Low End compared to other tubes. I'm going to wait until they get the bugs worked out before I try again.

Did you get yours from the first run (with the very high conductance) or the later run where they'd got it back into line? They'll most likely swap yours out if you're not happy based on what I've heard so far rather than have you spend more money trying.Funkalicousgroove wrote:I paid $168 for 3 including s&h. 1 was so microphonic in my VTV Tester that it just sat there and rang, the ones that were usable I found to be nice, but lacking in Low End compared to other tubes. So it's $168 for 3 and hope the microphonics go away after you burn them in...Hmmmmmm......Mind Blowing!!!

Uh huh.... Lets package up a solid state device that replaces the 12AX7 and continually mislead by calling it a "tube device" and other nonsense.
It is not a tube. It is solid state. Putting the pins on it doesn't make it better.

CRT cathode proven technology. WTF?
If this is a SS device, then I don't know what their heaters are used for, other than illumination. No heater and no vacuum = no CR. It would be an interesting test to remove the heater voltage and then try it.

Re: Tech tube valves... Anyone try these yet?
There are a few guys over at the Metro forum that have tried them and liked them.
As mentioned they require a break in period in which most if not all microphonics disappear.
Now those guys are pretty much dyed in the wool Marshall guys so I'm not sure how well these work in a Fender type or Dumble type amp.
I still think it's cool that a company would at least try to make a new type of tube.
The Russian tubes can be hit or miss and certainly NOS tubes are far better in most cases but what will we do when the NOS supply is depleted?

Tony, please do not misquote me. I was referring to the solid state thing. Not the Tech Tubes. Those are quite nice. I have tried them btw.
