Dumbleator Seperate Unit - Why?
A while back I read a post mentioning HAD made the Dumbleator seperate for a reason -- instead of installing in an amp.
Can anyone shed some light on this 'Reason' --- the post didn't mention it.
Thanks.

Re: Dumbleator Seperate Unit - Why?
I'll take a wild guess and say that it was the 80's and rack units were all the rage.
So he made it in a rack mount chassis enclosure to be put in the rack box.

Someone here said it was to seperate the power supply.

My understanding (tonally) that having a longer cable lost a little high end, and that was highly desirable to many players.
Separate power supplies was also a good thing, as it kept the dumbleator from sagging with the amp.
Personally I believe the real reason was cost. Kept the price of the original lower (ie lower investment on his part), and created a market for a secondary item he could sell to pro players.
