Hi Chaps,
There's a guy selling these trannies over here in the UK. I've checked them out in a few places and they do seem to be a Fender equivalent, however I can't find out who made them. Can anyone suggest whether this might be a nice tranny for an ODS clone or shed any more light on these for me?
Ebay Auction here
Cheers,
Rob.

Looks like standard generic off the shelf 60.00 Bassman style transformer..I bought those from CE Dist..They are OK transformers for the money...Wouldn't label them as Hi Fi..

Use a 100 watt frame tranny. I'd only build a 100 watt clone. They are bigger and better IMHO. Not worth the time unless you do it right.

I can't really agree with that one. These amps need to get the master past #2-3 to sound really great and I have a hard time doing that with a 100 watt amp. The 50 watter sounds good to me.dogears wrote:Use a 100 watt frame tranny. I'd only build a 100 watt clone. They are bigger and better IMHO. Not worth the time unless you do it right.

Hey Gil
That's made by Marvel Magnetics, who's made for Fender, Boogie and Two Rock in the past. Not bad iron, possibly from a Fender 75 maybe ? They had the 2 4 and 8 ohm outputs with those colors, although those had UL taps (which could be ignored).
Proud holder of US Patent # 7336165.

Thanks for the replies chaps.
Based on your info I think I might just go straight for Mercury rather than chance it.
Cheers,
Rob.
