Output Transformer A-8094??
Hi guys,
I have an output transformer from an old 60's executone pb-325 amplifier that I don't know much about. I think it was connected to a socket plug connector and said 70v, 20v, 3.5v
It is a black standup kind like the dyna clones and has A-8094 punched into the case.
Anyone know who made this or have any info on this transformer and whether it is suitable for guitar amp use?
thanks,
Nick

Re: Output Transformer A-8094??
Sounds like an old Public Address style OT.
They used to run a 70 volt output on those to power a bunch of speakers.

Re: Output Transformer A-8094??
That's what I was thinking.
So basically it's unusable?
Would there need to be a step down transformer at the speaker?

Re: Output Transformer A-8094??
Hey Thanks,
I checked the transformer and it is bigger than the one in the Stancor pdf.
Also, I have the PT which is labeled A-8096 and it is totally different than the A-8096 in the Stancor files. Both PT and OT have 682 242 stamped under the A-#.
I see someone is selling the exact amp on the bay check it out:

Re: Output Transformer A-8094??
You wouldn't happen to have any info files on them would you?
Re: Output Transformer A-8094??
No general info, only on some specific models such as the ones used by Ampeg. You wouldn't happen to have any info files on them would you?
The company still exists and maybe has an archive department.

Re: Output Transformer A-8094??
My question w/b, if making a little Boogie amp using a PA head like this w/ the 70V lead, is just removing those speaker sockets and shrink-wrapping or taping up the lead good enough? Or is there more that should be done?

Re: Output Transformer A-8094??
Thanks FYL for the help.
I tried calling them but couldn't get through. I'll try again some time.
So is the OT I have useable in a guitar amp with the secondary windings as they are? Or should I just forget about it. I feel like I read somewhere that you need a step down transformer at the speaker with this type of OT, is that correct? Or do the lower voltage 3.5v or maybe the 20v taps translate to 8ohm and 16ohm or something?
Please forgive my ignorance on this subject.
Thanks
