Dressing up a Dumblator?

Post by Mark »

I am after a bit of advice on the most economical way to put directions such as input, output, etc, on a 19" rack mount case.

I have heard of people using Avery labels, but that is all that I have heard.

What do you guys recommend?
Yours Sincerely

I would use white self adhesive vinyl paper. You can find it on ebay and with an inject printer you can create custom labels or even complete faceplates.

I'm not familiar with this particular material. If you find a link, can you post it?

Cheers!

Pete Cornish is someone who has used this method - it always stuck with me that he used this tape. You could call him the Bob Bradshaw of Great Britain. His site has some interesting Artist rigs - Modyfying Claptons SLO 100's etc.

Here is the first seller i found on ebay with that kind of products:
Link
Check his white A4 sticker with high gloss or matt finish.
Don't try to use the transparent labels if your chassis has a dark color.

My wife got a electronic labeling machine from a vendor and it uses black, white or clear tape for Electronic/Electrical service labelling. It works really nice but I run out of tape quickly.

I used it to label my PA cords for bottom or top cabinet and even my drummer can uderstand which wire goes where now. I need to finish labelling the rest of the PA setup so I don't have to be the only one that know how to wire the system everytime we gig.

Thanks D. There doesn't seem to be any sellers of this product in the US (am I missing something... is there another keyword?) and searching on, say, "inkjet vinyl sticker" doesn't return this seller. So I never would have found this stuff if you hadn't posted.

I really like oil based paint pens myself, it's not going to come off like a sticker, and you have a vast aray of colors to chose from.

I've tried to find the black with white lettering to no avail in my town.

And what I would really like is clear with white lettering, not sure if they even make that.

I'm talking about the Brothers P Touch label maker.

It makes very thin laminate type labels.

I got the white on black from the local staples, you can get it online. My labeler uses "TZ tape", you can order it on staples site, they do seem to have white on clear:

These guys have it too:

My labeler is a ptouch 1280, its like $20 refurbished or $30 new.
