What amp is Larry playing?
Video from the "Last Nite" gig. (There are a few of these on YouTube, all excellent)

Look around 0:27-0:30. Maybe it's just a speaker cab, but it looks tweed-ish. Is that what I'm seeing?

That's a dumble 2x12 cab in tan with oxblood grille loaded with 2 EVM 12L's, The amp in that era I believe is a high plate classic with a .05 coupler on v1B, He was also using a Dumbleator in those days and an Audioarts 4100 Parametric EQ in the loop along with a roland echo, an mxr delay, and a rocktron Hush unit.

I thought it had that Dumble tone, but I didn't want to embarrass my self and say it was a D amp.

Yeah, that was why I asked. It sure sounds like a Dumble, and certainly RESPONDS like a Dumble. I just didn't SEE like I expected to see it.

Brandon, do you think he has the boost on in that clip? It sounds kinda like it to me but I guess it could be those EMG pups too.
Re: What amp is Larry playing?
Any idea what LC used in recording the Sapphire Blue record?Funkalicousgroove wrote:That's a dumble 2x12 cab in tan with oxblood grille loaded with 2 EVM 12L's, The amp in that era I believe is a high plate classic with a .05 coupler on v1B, He was also using a Dumbleator in those days and an Audioarts 4100 Parametric EQ in the loop along with a roland echo, an mxr delay, and a rocktron Hush unit.

Forgive me, Funk, but I'm out of the loop. Any hints on what's inside the black amp?

Re: What amp is Larry playing?
It's a Ripper, so kind of similar to a Bluesmaster with a different Overdrive section- VERY expressive, can go from clean to scream with pick attack-

Re: What amp is Larry playing?
Got another random Larry question
What amp is he using on Renegade Gentleman? I love the tone on that.

It's always something. I'd love to hear more about this circuit, if anybody has info.Funkalicousgroove wrote:It's a Ripper, so kind of similar to a Bluesmaster with a different Overdrive section- VERY expressive, can go from clean to scream with pick attack-

Re: What amp is Larry playing?
My guess-- the lead circuit is behind a larger input resistor, so that clean is more possible with the lead master turned up. Not usually a prob getting distortion. My drive is usually on 3 or 4.greiswig wrote:It's always something. My other guess is that it has a form of the bassman/marshall direct coupled stage as the lead circuit. I've modded amps with this config and they've come out great. The only question is- is the output off the cathode, or a plate configuration?
