Anyone familiar with this Dumble? Looks like an Overdrive Reverb, but I can't quite tell for sure.

That looks like a Steel String Singer, but different than his #2 with the red switches. It could be the same amp with different knobs and switches.

Too much compression, is that what you are talking about? Or the bandwidth limiting of the TS10?

I can understand if he had to do that for volume reasons.

I agree. Actually, I thought that John Mayer's performance was not good. His tone has always been that way: a wall of amps that many guitar players would kill for and sounds ok at best. It's just not in him, not in his hands.

Give the guy a Super or a Vibroverb and call it a day...
I've sent a bunch of amps to guy's who play those TV Gigs.. Gotta use the pedals they say.. REAL picky about the volume..Those TS10's if you get a good one can sound better to me than some of the 808's Stevie used one for a long time...same chip 4558!!

I've heard Mayer a few times on TV where he had the goods in the tone department.
But you have to admit, it's all about how they go about recording/EQing it.

Now if he could just stop making "baby crapping his diaper" faces.

I like the performance, musically speaking. The children's choir is a very out of character move on his part too. Though that's probably what made the difference to me.

HAHAHA... I have to agree. I'd love to take a stab at setting up his rig!

I also think that his "Big Dipper" pickups have a lot to do with the way he (doesn't) sound (if we're talking about the midrange "body" of his tone).

On the floor there's a Klon, TS10, some (white/tan) Boss pedal, and a blue ______, and some other stuff.

EDIT: and damn Steve Jordan is AMAZING! I'd love to play just one gig with that rhythm section...
