Technically, the EL509/6KG6 is a sweep tube that was primarily designed for Class C operation in horizontal sweep circuits. However, the EL509/6KG6 has also been a popular final tube in RF linear amplifier circuits. I am an Amateur Extra class FCC licensee, and a lot of my fellow hams use this tube as a robust replacement for the 6LQ6 in Ameritron, Dentron, and Swan gear.
