your 6 volt tap will produce 8.5 volts with a full wave bridge. So you have the "headroom" for the blue LEDs and the relays, also because it's not a doubler you have the full full power of the tap available so current (amperage) demands for 3 relays and LEDs won't be an issue either.

Awesome!

Is the 470R in series with the power LED in your schematic the proper value for the 8.5v I will be getting or is it more for a 12v? Would I want a smaller value?

Are the parrlel 100R's on the footswitch a standard value or do I need to change them depending on my voltage, relay, LED choice, etc.?

What LED's do you like to use, super bright, diffused, mcd, angle?

Thanks

The 470 will work fine, you can go to a 1k for less brightness.
The 100 works for both 12v and 5v setups, you might like a 150 for a little more brightness - because the relays are so forgiving you don't need to worry about exact voltage drops.
I use the cheapest bargin bin LEDs I can find. :)

So the top switches with the resistor and leds, those are the front panel switches right?

Do most guys install the led's on the front panel?

On my amp, I would like to dim the led's a little bit.

The relays I am using are the ultra sensitive 5v ones.

Mouser 653-G5V-2-H1-DC5
5v, 72ma coil current, 150mW consumption.

I have an 8v regulated supply.

I guess I should open it up and measure some voltages to see how much current limiting resistors would lower the voltage.

I have the led's in my footswitch, I am only switching OD and PAB.

Would it work to put the resistors in parallel with the FS led's?
Instead of in series with them as is typical?

Those top switches are the footswitch. For a panel switch just use a 150 ohm on a switch from ground to the relay ground side.

Hey thanks Heist,

Sorry to keep this going but are you saying that for the panel switch (the pedal/manual switch on the rear) you need a 150 ohm resistor? OR is that for something different?

The schematics I have just have the pedal/manual switch going straight to ground or have a .1uf cap across the switch.

Also, on the #124 schematic the PAB pedal/manual switch is N.C. on one side, should this be going to ground for proper function without the footswitch?

Thanks again

I forgot you're imitating #124 - I suggested the 150 ohm for a panel switch so the relay would see the same voltage as using the footswitch - if you have 8.5 volts it may be too much for your 5 volt relays without it.
OTTOMH (off the top of my head) without looking I'm thinking the #124 amp pedal/manual switch just allows the footswitch to connect to the ground side of the relay or in the manual position grounds the relay so it's on. Personally I don't see a need for those switches at all.

Thanks!

Part of my problem is here on Maui the only LEDs I can find are at radio shack and they are expensive. I am wanting to use blue and a single blue LED is over $5, so I wan to be sure I am getting the right thing.

I appreciate all your time and help

Two question:

Since I am using the 6v from the main PT should I float the grounds?

I read in another thread a comment Funk made about connecting all the grounds back to the diode ground with a 10 ohm 2w resistor. Would I need that resistor or can I just wire all the grounds back together?

Thanks guys.

I ground my relay supply near the P.T. and run a wire from there to the footswitch jack (and panel switch(s) if used).
