treble bleed?
I tried wiring up the OD treble bleed but Im not sure I have it correct. The pic below shows what I did. Can someone tell me if and where I am wrong? Thanks!

Re: treble bleed?
Thanks, will do. Thats the trimmer your showing right? My pic wasnt very clear, I have a 500K trimmer wired as shown, coming off the 15OK OD2 resistor. I am trying to do the "Gil treble bleed" mod, just to see what it does. I adjusted the image. Thanks for the help.
Re: treble bleed?
Sorry - I should have labeled things better. No trimmer in my pic, it shows the value fixed at 150k across the ratio (level) pot. If you wanted a trimmer it would look like this:

Re: treble bleed?
So I need to move my cap to the other side of the trimmer, have it going into pin 1, jumper from 2-3 and going to ground?

Henry, and how is that different from the original post?heisthl wrote:Sorry - I should have labeled things better. No trimmer in my pic, it shows the value fixed at 150k across the ratio (level) pot. If you wanted a trimmer it would look like this:

Re: treble bleed?
Hello; I'm new to your forum, (and thanks in advance for your time and advice) though I have lurked quite a bit. I'm in Pennsylvania, an IT consultant, and I have a Ceriatone OTS (non-HRM).
I had a question concerning the treble bleed circuit:
I notice that some people are saying they installed it on the Level pot and some say the Ratio pot. I would like the treble bleed to only affect the Overdrive channel as I like the clean channel as is. Are both the Level and Ratio pots electronically isolated from the clean side, or is one more so than the other? What are the pros and cons of putting the bleed circuit on one pot as opposed to the other?
Again, I appreciate your help and advice.

Re: treble bleed?
You can shunt highs (cap to ground) anywhere inside the overdrive circuit you want...Non HRM are usually the snubbers pins..1/3--- 6/8 not the same as the treble bleed but does help with oscillation and tames the highs a bit..
Putting the treble bleed at the ratio on the Ceriatone after the last gain stage giving the circuit it's greatest effect...IMHO..(Same place where Dumble did the tone shaping for his HRM's)... Gill came up with it so he may have another reason why he put it there...To me it's pretty obvious...
BTW.. Ratio and Level are isolated overdrive only in your amp...

Re: treble bleed?
I believe that Gil advises putting it on the level pot.
But he puts it on a small daughter board at the 180K resistor that goes to the level pot input.

Re: treble bleed?
The layout for my amp has the 180K resistor going to the Ratio pot and the 100K resistor going to the Level pot, so I'm still a bit confused on the recommended placement of the treble bleed, but from what you're saying it doesn't really matter, and neither one will affect the clean side?
Re: treble bleed?
Not really. "My" treble bleed goes on the RATIO control, on the Lead Master Volume, etc. That is, it ties to the 150K output resistor at V2B. The further down the road you put the treble bleed, the richer the harmonic content of the tone IMNSHO.Structo wrote:I believe that Gil advises putting it on the level pot.
