cradle - I am always suspicious, eh, can't help it. Is there anyway you could confirm the dimple at the top of the glass bottle? And the hole in the center pin of the base? Hard to tell from that pic, kinda looks OK but not the complete picture.

If they're legit - and Mesa sells a lot of Chinese tubes - then you are right, this is a good deal for the real thing. Thanks for the tip.
Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?

I talked to them on the horn but they won't open the box. The markings look right and all the other STR-450s I can find have that dimple.

Mesa has sold the 'proper' NOS Siemens for ages so I'd imagine they're legit.

Most places have bumped up the prices significantly this last couple of years though.

mesa str-450

Post by 67plexi »

It's the real deal. But not matched. The old price was $75.00 a pair.
Mesa Amps use a fixed bias. MY str-450 tested 92-100 % A guy on E-Bay had non branded dimple top EL-34s for $138.00 a quad and tested at 110% all matched. I got 16 each and re tubed all my marshall plexi's
and Hi-watt's. All I use for a guitar amp now is the Rocket with a air brake
the gold one.

Good luck on the dimple top Quest.
