D lator ?

Post by zimm »

Hi all, I just finished putting together a d-lator. Im having a weird issue. If I have the amp master volume low and the d-lator hooked up I get little to no amp output. If I increase the MV to 12 oclock, all of the sudden I get output, the d-lator responds as it should, amp sounds great. I guess my question- is this normal? Is there a certain level that the dlator needs in order to pass the signal? Seems odd to me. My voltages seem good. I am unable to pinpoint a faulty component because when I get the no output condition and touch certain areas with my VOM probe the signal suddenly pops on and the output is then normal, until I turn it off for a while and turn it back on, then Im back to no output. I rebuilt both boards, replaced components, retouched connections... Im stumped. I guess a pic would help, Ill try to post one tonight.

That's because the master is before the loop.

It just seems odd that it goes from nothing to all the sudden popping on. There is no smooth volume transition as I increase the MV. Just nothing, then MV hits ~noon and, BAM, volume. Also, the amp is a BM HRM circuit if that helps.

That might be a cable issue what w/ running in and out of pre out mains in then to effects. If you unity at 12:00 on the D-lator gets you nothing def. something is up.
Post pix if cables and connections are fine.
