20X9X2.5" is the size. I countersunk the holes on the deck and behind the rearplate.

one last thing. The NFB comes off of the 4 ohm tap. Other than that it looks right. Nice job!

Allyn,

Is the PT voltage 400-0-400 with OT of 2000 ohms primary to get that 80 watt rating?

300-0-300V on the PT with 3.3K primaries on the OT Beefed up of course. I never measured the output. I guessed about 80W since this was a rush job and I had to make the faceplates before the amp was built!

So around 514 plate voltage to use 3.3k and equal 80 watts RMS. Am I calculating this correctly? 514.514/80w = 3.3k

A twin reverb has 450.450/100w =2025 ohm plate to plate and uses a 2000 ohm transformer.

I just got to hear this amp over the weekend -- it rocks!!! All of the good wreck-y things plus more umph, better low end, very cool!

Allyn and Steve,

I was revisiting the layout and Allyn you said the NFB comes off the 4 ohm tap but Steve has it coming off the 16 ohm tap on the layout. Not sure if Steve wanted to change that. I will make a note on my layout, thanks guys.

OK, I'll ask a stupid question here.... Why not use the standard Express PS board and stack 'o caps? Certainly the output tube sockets could be moved somewhat further left if there's a conflict.....

Just wondering..... maybe I didn't use my brain and missed something.....

I think the amp looks like half asteroid and half TW. I'm not saying circuit wise as a asteroid only the way the cap board is built, locking bias pot and power board. I think it makes for a more stable and stronger amp when hauling around for gigging.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I was wondering about an 80 watt Rocket build as I like the tone stack of the Rocket but need more power baby. :) If I could just talk the band into miking everything all my problems would be solved with no need for louder.

Updated layout.

Post by sst4270 »

Updated the layout on page 4 to correct the NFB to come from the 4 ohm tap. Actually I did this a while back and forgot to post it.
I believe the layout now contains all the corrections posted to date.
