How to prevent rotation of impedance switch?

Post by HDeno »

Hi everyone,

My build is progressing well.. Now I am ready to install the stackpole impedence switch, but no matter how much I tighten the nut, the switch will loosen up dans rotate with the knob..

Did you guys use the anti-rotation tab on the switch, or you just chopped it off?.. That's what I am thinking of doing, but maybe there is a better way to lock the switch in place without cutting the tab...

Thanks!!

I had one of those type switches in an amp and I drilled a small hole for the tab.

On another amp I used the switch from Hoffman and used a star washer and don't have any issues.

Chopped it off and used flat washer and star washer.

+1 on the star washer... just hold her tight and use a nut driver to get that bitch good and tight....

I think if you use just the star washer under the nut on the outside, you will have better luck at getting it to stay.

Thanks guys!..

I chopped the tab off and did what Ron said... I used a star washer, between the switch and the inside wall of the chassis, and used a nut driver to tighten the nut, so the star washer 'bites' in the metal... Works perfect!!!

I drill the hole, some times the thickness of my face plate wont allow a star washer.
