in response to paulster-
Is it actually documented anywhere that this happened, or is this some of the Dumble-style internet mythology that pervades around Ken Fischer? It seems far better documented that you put your name on the list for an amp, and at some point got a call to say your amp was ready.
i wasn't attempting to perpetuate any type of mythology- dumble, fischer, or otherwise, so i apologize if it came across that way. i thought there were some threads that touched on this subject, but i could be wrong. maybe i mistook the fact that the express and liverpool build information includes suggested tweaks for evidence that these differences actually exist in an amp that ken fischer "custom-tweaked" for someone somewhere. i don't know and i really don't care. all i know for sure is the sound of the amp i built from his original design, which is the best sounding amp i have ever owned.

ha!! this always happens, once the myth comes out people get easily engaged in discussions around certain topics. Anyway I know that design (express) sounds great. That is why I'm interested in building one..:)

its hard to say.. i doubt anyone has seen every expres or wreck amp built to compare. the few that have been seen and compared are very much the same. Some used a few add ons, mostly to cure oscilation problems..a few that own real wrecks did have Ken tweak them some. And not all of them used the same coupling caps. There are probably some things done that others don't do when building.
But if you follow the info you can build a great amp. And you can mod or tweak it if you like. Even Ken himself had amps that sounded better to him than another one just like it..so who is to say..
