EVM 12L or SRO? Which is it?
I have an older EV that I was told was an SRO. It looks more like a 12L to me. Does anyone know how to tell the difference?

That doesn't look like the SRO's I had in the 70's. They were white and had a smaller diameter but longer magnet. I'd say it's an EVM.

EVM 12L Series II with the heat-sink removed?
Re: EVM 12L or SRO? Which is it?
Looks like what Normster said - you can always just ship it to me and let me get a closer look at it

EV Sold many speakers this way. I believe they're OEM models.Normster wrote:EVM 12L Series II with the heat-sink removed?

It looks like an OEM 12L, the only thing that looks wrong are the speaker connections. Normally EV's have a spring loaded connection and not spade lugs.
It is definately not an SRO.

Interesting the 4 that I have all have the cool string clips. The reissues also have the spring clips.Bob-I wrote:My OEM EVM has spade lugs.glasman wrote:It looks like an OEM 12L, the only thing that looks wrong are the speaker connections. SPAM Alert ... BTW, if anyone needs any reissue 12L's I can get for a decent price (well better than street price).

FWIW mine has spring clips/button - not an OEM.glasman wrote: Interesting the 4 that I have all have the cool string clips. The reissues also have the spring clips.

Gary,
Please PM me RE: the SPAM....
Re: EVM 12L or SRO? Which is it?
This was recently re-coned. There was no solder or scratches on the lugs so I'm assuming the reconer replaced these for some reason.glasman wrote:Interesting the 4 that I have all have the cool string clips. The reissues also have the spring clips.

I've got one that basically looks like that one with SRO on the label. I'll take a pic tonight and post it.

Re: EVM 12L or SRO? Which is it?
For the record, there was a brief transitional series of EV speakers Called the S.R.O. 12L, a Ceramic version of the SRO that has a white sticker on the back of the magnet that said SRO (I have one if pictures are necessary) this speaker is identical to the later EVM 12L, so the speaker in question could in fact be an SRO-

I have also seen the OEM EVM series speakers with faston connectors as opposed to the spring clips, I have seen 3 different size spring clips as well, and series II labeled speakers with and without the heatsink on the magnet.
