Received the EMV12L recone

Post by Bob-I »

I found a recone EMV12L on ebay, won it for $102. I received it yesterday and it was never mounted, the screw holes still had some cone material covering them.

I put it in place of the Emi Delta-pro 12A in a Boogafunkcab.net Thiele cab. I've been very happy with the Emi and the Booga funk but I wanted to try an EVM.

Already I can see the advantage to a real EVM. I have less than an hour so I expect it will open up more. The highs just somehow seem sweeter. Mids are smoother and lows about the same in my little room. I've found that I lose a lot in the lows in this 10x10 room so next weeks gig will tell a lot more. It's an open mike night so it's a good venue for breaking in a speaker.

That's it, report done. I'll report more when I have more to report.

Stelligan says playing a Joe Pass CD through a speaker for a couple of days will break it in right.

Congrats Bob! A minty reconed EMV 12L is a beautiful thing! :D

Give it at least 20 hours.

I've always felt that PLAYING is the best break in. I plan on doing a lot of that.
