Rocket choke
Hello, I have a Hammond 156L that is 5H 75ma. Could I combine it with a power resistor to get closer to the correct 15H 25ma.? Thanks!
Re: Rocket choke
The proper is 15H @ 75mA not 25mA
Re: Rocket choke
There is a difference in the 156L and the called for 158L.
Hammond 156L Filter Choke:
Inductance: 5H, DC Current: 75mA, Resistance: 135 ohms, Max DC Volts: 400V.
Hammond 158L Filter Choke:
Inductance: 15H, DC Current: 75mA, Resistance: 411 ohms, Max DC Volts: 400V.
That being the resistance.
Well that make a difference Allyn??

In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird , and they take Prozac to make it normal.
Re: Rocket choke
I haven't tried the 156L so I can't say the difference in a Rocket. the resistance difference should raise voltages slightly down the pike but, the inductance difference may make a small feel change.
Re: Rocket choke
There goes my dyslexia again.
Didn't see the inductance difference.
Just the model and resistance. duh.

Re: Rocket choke
I built a "spare parts" Rocket using a Fender Twin choke (4H, 90mA, 100 Ohms). It worked just fine. When compared to a "clone" build, the tone and feel are very close...too close for my old ears to tell the difference. However, I didn't really push either amp so there may be significant differences under certain playing conditions.
Re: Rocket choke
I have 56 year old ears so I probably wouldn't be able to hear it either. Thanks all!
