Thanks!! for the tip..and I'll give that a go!!My issue is I use the glossy black Phonolic.. Mcmaster Carr.. everything I have tried leaves a clowdy film.. I really like using the Black boards.. I think it looks great with the Orance drops but shows all the imperfections... Thanks again!!!

We're way ahead of the curve up here above the 49th parallel - our Radio Shack stores went directly to hell years ago. Just when you think they can't possibly stock less components, or know less about them, they re-arrange the store to accomodate less parts and even dumber staff.

What a difference a color makes - The black does look cool, I guit using it because it drills funny and eylets pop out after repeated soldering (OK sometimes I use my soldering iron like a crowbar). It's just not as durable as the natural colored stuff. I wish I had a flatbed printer that would print on the phenolic.....talbany wrote:Tom

They'll always be avail somewhere. But it's not totally needed, I've used a rectified bias tap supply on every mod I've ever done for a relay supply--glasman wrote:Just a heads up, if you use the RS small filament transformers you'd better stock up. Based on the Phoenix area, fewer and fewer RS stores are stocking this items. It appears that they may be phasing these parts out.
Out of 6 stores I checked, only one had any remaining stock.

The Black boards are my fave.Especially w/ black power coated chassis!!. Natural works well too!!!I've never had any real issues with it other than it shows the imperfections scratches dirt etc.. For me the canvas of your masterpiece is the board...It shouldn't draw your eyes...the parts on the board and your nice soldering job should.. The blue and yellow boards just to me looks funny!!. Especially when you add in 10 different wire colors...It can make the amp look to busy.. Like a pizza... Just my opinion...What a difference a color makes - The black does look cool, I guit using it because it drills funny and eylets pop out after repeated soldering (OK sometimes I use my soldering iron like a crowbar).
