ODR for Trey type player
Been tinkering with the idea of putting someone out there to tour in a "darkstar" methodology playing Phish. I know of a player in Asheville who in a blind listening test can not be told apart from Trey. That being said he is only 22 and sounds like Trey, when Trey's on top of his game. If I were going to design a 50w ODR, what would really get the Trey sound + some. Which mods to a regular 50w ODR? Hrm or non? Skyline or non? Component value changes?
Thanks for the help.

I'd say a Non HRM, non skyline, 250K treble and bass pots, 100K mid pot, 330pf treble cap, 100K slope, .047 mid, .01 bass, bigger cathode bypass caps (10-25uf)on the clean side and 100K/1K5 plate/cathode resistors.

Re: ODR for Trey type player
Gil and Chris can vouch for me!!
To my ears trey's tone is more fenderish, so I thought a more fenderish flavor would suit, and if your guy plays a hollow thinline with 2 HB's he'll appreciate the .047
I'd start there and see what he thinks

So does the non-skyline still have the bass and mid run parallel (bass pot bypassed by .001uf with the tail resistor etc)? Just the values differ? That's always puzzled me.

Yeah, wire the mid pot the same.

maybe for trey...
Would there be a standard fender DR reverb in it or would it be sss-odsr type? Do you think that 50w with 2x6l6 or d-lite style with 6v6? 12ay7 or 12ax7 for pre and/or verb? Would pab be wired as usual? What chassis size would be needed?
Re: ODR for Trey type player
so did trey have el34 or 6l6 in the mesa that he played?
Re: ODR for Trey type player
I've seen him in person. To me he looks like HAD's Illegitimate sondr. who wrote:Alright now damnit...How in the hell are you that good at this...Has anyone actually seen Funk in person or is this really HAD's alter ego? Whoever is behind that Handle- Thanks!!!
Ok, he actually looks nothing like HAD but every amp he had at the show sounded great, and each one was different. He has a great ear and knows the Dumble ckt as well as anyone.
