Since they'll probably be getting the money from her insurance company they'll probably pay pretty quick, probably.

WOW Gary... Despite the joy of broken ribs, I'll think of you as a lucky guy.

Broken ribs and broken collar bone - both injuries that they can't really do much for... take your time and heal slow and steady... and may you never have to sneeze!

I've seen several of those Saturns that have been smacked like that, and the occupants have faired better than the twisted iron might indicate.

At least you will have an excuse for a slow build rate... most of us can't really can't come up with a good explanation.

Yes absolutely keep exercising by walking, blood clots are a real threat from those types of injuries.

Hi Gary....

I'm pretty new to this forum so have never had the pleasure of conversing with you before. I feel for you. Have had broken ribs three different times (dirt bike wrecks)

I hope you heal quickly.

I just wanted to give you a little free legal advice. You will probably be hearing from the other driver's insurance company (if you haven't already). They usually use a nice young gal to call you and ask you for a statement about what happened. She'll ask you if it's O.K. if she tapes your statement. After you're done telling your story, she'll have a bunch of questions about how your doing and feeling etc. I suggest that you politely tell them that you are not interested in talking with them yet when they call. The insurance companies do this to get you on record so they can use what you say against you later if/when you sue. Things that you may think are innocuous now can come back to bite you later.

Trust me, I'm an attorney and I'm here to help. That last was a joke (I hope you can laugh). But serious, I am an attorney and I've seen statements given right after an accident come back to bite people later when they are fighting with a money grubbing insurance company, or a money grubbing lawyer (is there any other kind?) for that matter.

Gary if you need rehab check with your local VA for help that will aleviate the costs. They have excellant PT and OT plus restorative care services.

I am an expert in the Department of Veterans Affairs benefits so if any one needs my assistance I am available. I have 29 years of working for VA.

Lol, I had to read this twice to figure it out... I saw it as, "they have excellent POWER TRANSFORMER and OUTPUT TRANSFORMER plus restorative care services." I'm thinking, did Gary have amps in the car that got damaged?

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery!
Many years ago, (late 70s) the same thing happened to my future stepfather and I. He was driving (AMC Pacer; think George Jetson LOL!) and we were T-Boned in the drivers door by a full-size Plymouth station-wagon. Hit us so hard we ripped the bench seat right outta the floor!! The Pacer, however, had a steel beam running across the door; I'm sure it saved our lives.
Now for the legal advice-
While it's fine to accept quick settlement for the car, DO NOT accept ANY "Final settlement" offers re: medical!!! My stepfather did, and if it wasn't for his full-boat military coverage, he would have had to spend countless $$ for problems that weren't apparent initially. (or suffer for the rest of his life!)
Here's hoping you get hot PT babes like I did after my rotator-cuff repair surgery last year, they made the discomfort more than bearable; I was almost sorry it was over! (ALMOST!) Anyway, all the best to you and your boy.

Hey Gary,

Sorry this happened to you. Consider yourself lucky that you didn't get hurt worse. My father and I were in a head on years ago and he was not so lucky and died from massive head injuries. Believe what you hear about insurance companies...they are the scum of the earth.
