Need source for express chassis

Post by PlinytheWelder »

I'm looking for a source for pre-punched express chassis. I know that someone here had them, but I lost the link.

Thanks!

I can tell you that Allyn's chassis is the way to go, very high quality, fast turn around with service and shipping. The price is very good as well.

Allyn's are top notch.

Do note that not all the holes are there; you need to do the transformer wiring holes as well as the transformer and board bracket holes yourself.

Can do the later with a drill bit, but need something beefier for the former (unibit, forstner bit, or metal punch).

Can I assume that it will be considered useful to present an alternative style of "Express Inspired" chassis that I can make available to the forum members? I'm too old and uncompetitive to get into the "Mine is Better" game, but I do like to offer some "Flavor" for those who might embrace it.

Of course you can do the capacitors in a stack with this unit, but this is really intended for those that see things a bit different.

Hey RJ

That looks nice. :D I like the black chassis and silk screen? face plate. I could use that for a Dr Z style amp build? I have so many builds going now what am I thinking?

Now RJ I have been out to your site about everyday lately I have never seen that before.

Mark,

Thanks for the kind words. Those faceplates are pretty unique. They are actually a milled text on an aluminum plate. They are also one louder than a "normal" amp.

I also have too many ideas and simultaneous projects... that's why the Road Runner amp hasn't been posted yet. Sometimes I have to choose between updating my web site, sending out parts, practicing for gig, or building on an amp.... what am I thinking?

Since I have a dozen amps ready to go to the work bench, it may be a while before you see this one finished. I'll admit I was hesitating a bit while a couple other buddies finished and debugged their Express builds... seems they are a bit finicky about things ya know.
