I'm new to the board so I'm not familiar with all the content. I came across this link to some pretty cool pictures. Forgive me if this is old news.

I never realized it but this one looks way different in its layout, or does it just look that way because the 6 output tubes have been removed???Normster wrote:Nice!

Re: pictures pictures pictures
well hows it sound?
Re: pictures pictures pictures
I actually was playing it this morning and in some ways I like it better than my #124 copy. Having the reverb is nice if I'm not playing into the mixer board.JimiB wrote:well hows it sound?

Same layout (more or less), but the secret of the very impressive sound of this amp is the way the rear tube protection baffle is mountend (upside down). By this HAD achieved a special boost of 4th and 6th order harmonics by a process called "Baffleboarddumblelising" that is often overlooked by Dumble afficinados!ic-racer wrote:I never realized it but this one looks way different in its layout, or does it just look that way because the 6 output tubes have been removed???Normster wrote:Nice!

That sounds killer! What reverb tank/circuit did you use?
Anybody know what reverb tank that is in that 300SL?

I agree!JimiB wrote:ic-racer
I didn't realize Henry Kaiser had Dumbles (and so many!). A mentor of mine has built him a number of guitars.

In what way do you like it better?
That soundclip is great! Again a killer tone.

On the soundclip the reverb is post-mic (rack mounted spring reverb), not the amp's reverb. The amp uses the original Fender circuit and tank, I had to remove one recovery stage to replace the 6C10 with a 12AX7. The reverb feeds in just before the PI.erwin_ve wrote:In what way do you like it better?

One thing I like better about that amp is that it was tweaked until I liked it. My #124 project was an experiment in duplication; the original was tweaked for someone else.
