Hi,
In August I bought an Ceriatone Overtone ampkit and about a month ago
It was finished.
It's sounds nice and is very low noise. So that's good.
but I recently noticed something.
1. when strumming a chord on my guitar (or playing anything else
actually) and putting the standby switch on the amp in bypass, the
signal fades out instead of directly gone. Is this normal?
2. When putting the powerswitch in the off position (after some
playing) the sounds is gone (that's normal) but it fades back in for a
few seconds!
So the amp is of and the sounds reappear.
I'm thinking that this is an elko that drains it's power. but I don't
think this is normal.
The signal that fades in again is loud. (you can actually hear the
guitar again, it's not just noise)
Anybody have any idea's why this occures?
Thanks for your help.

I am far from an expert on everything electronic, esspecially when compared to many of the members on this board. However, I do think that what you a describing is quite normal. I have a trainwreck express build that does the exact same thing. When i switch the amp from on to standby, the signal fades out. When I switch the amp from standby to off, I hear some hiss and noise swell back in and then it fades out.
I am not sure about the noise that swells in and out after the amp is turned off, but I know that once you turn off the B+(standby switch), the filter caps still have to drain. While they are draining, the tubes are still getting some voltage, which dissipates quickly, thus resulting in the fading signal you hear.
Perhaps someone with a little more knowledge can add?
Re: Stange things when putting the powerswitch off
This is normal. In fact, strumming your guitar after unplugging your amp from the wall outlet (without turning off the power or standby switch) is one way to drain your capacitors down to a safe level before working on the amp.
Great things happen in a vacuum

Hey guys, thanks for your answers.
So I don't need to worry about it.
This is the first amp that I've put together that has this, that's why I was a bit worried.
(My DC30 clone and 5E3 clone don't have this.)
