Most "new" amps these days seems to be a tweak or redesign of something old..
Does anybody know what the basis of the Blackbird might be?

If I am not mistaken the blackbirds are based on the blackface era deluxe amps.

BTW, I ran into Ben a couple of weeks ago and he told me some great news: via Ben's association with Joe Satriani, Steve Vai was blown away by Ben's amps and got him together with Carvin to completely re-design the Legacy. It will be featured at NAMM this winter and should be publicly available soon after. I'm already impressed by the Legacy, and I can't wait to check out the new version.
