I've had my D'Lite 22/33 for almost a year. I've been able to get everything I've wanted out of it recording and I am very close in a new live band effort that I'm working on.
I'm running a G-1265 (97db) 1x12 open back. When paired up with a Emi 105 (100db) 2x10 it sounds good. But the two more efficient Emi speakers are just a bit louder than I would like in the mix. I can somewhat compensate by putting the 2x10 set on the bottom and stacking the 1x12 on top. Interesting to note that when recording I would generally run the 1x12 a bit higher in the mix too.
Anyway, in this new live situation I need a bit of beef from the amp. The 1x12 speaker alone with 6L6s will probably be OK but the combination of speaker cabinets definitely cuts through ... just a bit heavy on the 2x10.
So my question: I've been thinking about 2x10 options.
One might be replacing one or both 10s with a less efficient speaker like the 95db Celestion 10" Greenback ... but I'm imagining they would be darker. Maybe using the 97db Clestion G10 Vintage. There are very few 16 ohm 10" speaker options ... or at least a much more limited set of options.
I've thought about beam blockers on the 2x10 ... might knock a bit of the edge off.
Maybe a attenuator on the 2x10 cabinet but that can be expensive. I actually have the first attenuator (an Altair unit) seemed to work OK. But I worry about reports from others that they've wrecked amps with it. I've had it since the early 80s ... so it's probably OK.
I'm betting that a 1x10 8 ohm cabinet with a similar speaker would be just about right too. But that would take a new cab and new speaker.
Everything I've tried so far has worked with this amp ... just keeps getting better and better. I eventually get the sound I want to get.
Since you seem to prefer the 12-65 for recording, I'd suggest a ported Hermida-type closed back with another 12-65. I tried one with my D'Lite, and it added a tight, punchy, focused bottom and complimented the 12-65 in my combo perfectly.

I looked at those Hermida ported cabs ... nice looking piece of gear. Certainly a good option. That ported 2x10 is nice too.
I actually like recording with a mix of both the 10s and 12s but I put the 12 a little heavier in the mix because the 10s just seem to be a little bit louder. I think if I could bleed off a bit of the 2x10 @ 100db volume so it could mix better with the 1x12 @ 97db, I'd be in "high cotton".
I can do it when I record ... I'll be able to do it when we in fact hit the stage and start using the PA ... just would like to be able to get it when I'm playing loud with the loud rig. Might pull out the old trick I used to use when I was running Altecs/Marshalls/no master volume back in the day ... throw a U-Haul blanket over one of the 10's.
