matching tubes

Greetings
I have quite a el84/6bq5 that i've acquired in my travels.Mostly old stock and all test good on my sencor tube checker .I would like to know, could I measure the cathode current in an el84 champ to find the ma. and put in compatable groups.Or could you possibly make some sort of test bed with adjustable supply.Would you need an ot with a dummy load or could you use a resistor as a load.I'm not sure what to do,I was hoping to get at least a few pairs if not a quad or two.
