Re: Time for nuclear war
Yeah, I saw them on TV recently, and it was like 3 animatronic (sp?) dolls just going through the motions. No fur covered guitars (thankfully), but just plain dull....
Billy has great gear and chops- I know that somewhere in there a real blues monster exists...... just too busy living the high life...

Well, surely he has a big ol' jazz box somewhere wif "F" holes. If I remember correctly Dusty has one, too. Everyone reaches that magical age where they play a big ol' jazz guitar while sittin' on a stool.Ron Worley wrote:Billy has great gear and chops- I know that somewhere in there a real blues monster exists...... just too busy living the high life...
If Rufus Reid can play upright Dusty can, too.
It doesn't hurt to reinvent yerself every so often.
I'm not gonna comment on Billy's Rasta Wannabe headgear...

You get rich and become lazy...
You hire the Rolling Stones law firm...
Start giving presents to special friends...
Hang around God's people...
Get signed up with Halliburton...
Yar on the Sheriff's payroll...
Royalties keep on keeping on...
Where's the next rush?

Government Mule replaced ZZ in my disc changer a long time ago. Better music, less foo foo stylistic nonsense and I can still catch GM in small venues.
As far as the stylistic nonsense goes I like bikes babes 'n' cars just about in that order. On the other hand fashion needs to be kept in its own little compartment so it doesn't infect yer entire being.

Nothing wrong with retro...
Biker/Jesus/look is ok, i suppose.
You guys are probably to young to remember but, fashion brought big changes...
Swinging London comes to mind... Carnaby Street, Pirate Radio, British Invasion...Frisco bay was also buzzing...Berkley was great.
Past a certain age, one tends to set in his ways.
Ronnie Wood is the exception, he favors thight cigarette jeans instead of LLBean.

The 59 club, Ace Cafe and the North Circular Road. Mod bashing.Tubetwang wrote:Swinging London comes to mind... Carnaby Street, Pirate Radio, British Invasion...
Screaming Lord Sutch wasn't all bad. I see him as Ozzie sans The Devil...
Glue sniffers! Buncha freaks!Tubetwang wrote:Frisco bay was also buzzing...Berkley was great.
Re: Time for nuclear war
Why mod when you can flip? You get a cabinet and chassis for 150.00, trannies probably worthless, sell em on ebay for a 12 pak, sell the brand new guts on ebay for a bag of peanuts to go with that 12 pak. Build something decent in there, 18 watt marshall, or deluxe or homebrew and go about your merry way and something to drink and eat while you build it.

These guys must get back to basics...
Here's my six parts plan to get them there...
1. Dump the drummer, the heavy compression and synthetiser.
2. Move the two guitar players to Mexico to pick-up veggies for 1 year.
3. Get a Mexican drummer on a payroll.
4. Make them walk to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center
Twentynine Palms. No Passport, No water, No toothbrush...where they
will be trained.
5. They will be dumped on the Afgani-Paki border in pyjamas and sandals
None of these silly MARPAT pixellised armored suits to slow them down. Bill will get a M249 SAW, Fatso will have one M203 and Poncho a M40A3. Swiss Army Knife will also be provided for nail duties.
6. Upon return, they will be signed to The Disney Channels.

Yeah, not a big step or a long drive. Give 'em a week, they'd have really big sombreros and Mexican blanket ponchos. I'm sure they got closets full o' silver toe cowboy boots to go wif their warehouses full o' guitars and amps. What do real Mexicans wear? Anyway... They'd pick up a horn section and re-form as a mariachi band entirely alienating their U.S. fan base. They'd fade away into Mexico wif steady gigs playin' weddings...Tubetwang wrote:2. Now I know you're on drugs. It must be a bad trip 'cuz this is gettin' harsh pretty quick.Tubetwang wrote:4. Make them walk to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center

I got a better idea... load 'em in an old VW Bus and point 'em towards Quebec. They'll dissappear into a tit bar and never leave...
Rock 'n' roll royalties buys a lot o' lap dances, see?
I wouldn't wish Afghanistan on anyone. The Mujahideen drove the Russians outta there using little more than sticks and rocks. Afghanistan was as far as Alexander the Great got. It's a great place to earn yer Ultimate Hero Merit Badge. Posthumously.Tubetwang wrote:5. They will be dumped on the Afgani-Paki border in pyjamas and sandals

Speakin' o' harsh...
Is that where this ends up? 'Cuz that's a lot of steps to get back to yer point of departure. Sign 'em as a backup band for Hannah Montana. A little Robert Johnson or Skip James wouldn't hurt the kiddies one bit!Tubetwang wrote:6. Upon return, they will be signed to The Disney Channels.

O.k., Weird Al... I see where you were goin' wif this. You got a stack o' guitars and amps as well as too much time on yer hands. Take about six weeks to record it, it will be no problem to sell it.Tubetwang wrote:Ok...forget about Disney Channel...

Re: Time for nuclear war
All I ask for is a simple incineration job. Seven hundred, eight hundred billion tops. A dollar apiece. Just enough to get things back to normal Close Wal-Mart forever. And now we get down to this OT crap about the little ol' band from Texas. Sheesh, I'll bet guitar player gives a good review of this POS just for the ad revenue. I want more drilling, in more places and I want it NOW! Screw the caribou! Have you ever tasted caribou? It's like liver on the run. Yuk! A trillion bucks in one year devoured by speculators. Bail out hell, set the house on fire and shoot the bastards as they run out!
