High Voltage Transformer
I'm building a Dlite with some leftovers I had laying around. The power transformer has a high voltage then the specified 325-0-325. I get 475v at the output transformer center tap. and 275 at the preamp tubes.
Are these voltages to high?
What are the highest voltages I can run this amp at?
What effect will it have on the sound?

Re: High Voltage Transformer
that doesn't sound like the specs of the transformer are right. 325-0-325 should put out about 440v, only if the input is 120v.
In any case you can always adjust the resistors in the power supply to step the voltages down. If you are using 6L6, they normally can take up to 500v, but you need close to 200v on the preamp tubes to get the desired effect. Please check the specs on your transformer and make sure your voltage supply is the recommended for it.

Re: High Voltage Transformer
That's unloaded right? Just a guess but if that PT is rated for a 115vac primary (and the 325v-0-325v secondary) then you'd get about 475v unloaded. You can adjust the power supply dropping string to get the right preamp voltages including lowering the 150K 'FET simulation' resistor.

Re: High Voltage Transformer
That was my question too. Those volts are with tubes in and heated? Skip
