Re: Electroswitch Wiring Diagram
The current carrying capacity of the Electro switch is 9A, 1.5 A rating is during switching, I just got off the phone with them-
So what that means is that if you are switching the selector with the amp cranked while playing and produce more than 1.5A of current there is a possibility that is may arc between contacts during the time between contacts. If you set the Impedance selector before you take it off stand by ( like you are supposed to) then the capacity of the switch is 9A and you are totally safe, and overrated to boot.

Re: Electroswitch Wiring Diagram
Probably due to the type of output transformer used, but there is a guess. I have seeen a few with TF125 trannies that have 4 and 8 ohms outs and no switch.UltraHookedOnPhonix wrote:Quick off-shoot:
Dumble #183 or #184 (made in 87') seems to have been the first ODS to feature the impedance selector.
Dumble #182 and #185 (strangely enough) doesn't feature the switch.

Re: Electroswitch Wiring Diagram
Here's an intersting tidbit:
#185 had an OT with 4,8, and 16 taps, 4&8 are on a switching jack on the "Extension" jack, and the 16 tap is cut off and heat shrunk inside.
Has anyone seen one with both a Half power switch and an impedance selector?

Ahh, so that clears up the meaning of:Funkalicousgroove wrote:The current carrying capacity of the Electro switch is 9A, 1.5 A rating is during switching, I just got off the phone with them-

Current and Voltage Rating: Make and break resistive load
1.5 amps @ 28 VDC; 0.5 amp @ 115 VAC.
Current Carrying Capacity: 9 amps.
...and 27A should be plenty!

Re: Electroswitch Wiring Diagram
Looks like that one had the same Iron as 185, I wonder why no selector on 185 then???

Now that I look at #184 again, it is curious that the 50/100 switch is not labeled. Perhaps an "owner request" for that particular amp, ie it was just an add-on.Funkalicousgroove wrote:Looks like that one had the same Iron as 185, I wonder why no selector on 185 then???

Re: Electroswitch Wiring Diagram
yeah, but 185 has the same Iron, a 1/2 power switch that is labeled, and no impedance selector, even though the OT has 4,8,16 taps??? HMMMMMMMMMMM??

I'll echo that report. The Hoffman supplied switch is rock solid as is every other part Doug sells. He won't sell crap.glasman wrote:I have been using the NKK in several amps for over ten years, no failures. Better rating also, 6A @ 125V ac.

Oh, yes. I thought you meant "1/2 power" selector.Funkalicousgroove wrote:yeah, but 185 has the same Iron, a 1/2 power switch that is labeled, and no impedance selector, even though the OT has 4,8,16 taps??? HMMMMMMMMMMM??

Re: Electroswitch Wiring Diagram
I just wonder why consecutive sn#'s with the same Iron would have different stuff on the back pannel??

Just a guess, but he was probably just using up chassis' he had. Depending on who the amp was for probably had a little to do with the level of what they got.

What do think the story is with this thing?

Re: Electroswitch Wiring Diagram
This is #004 made in the 70's.
To be serial #003 it would have a completely different look, that's for sure. The amp pictured looks like it belongs in the mid to late 80's.
I had to do a double take! The cabinet looks extremely authentic. The chassis is another story altogether. The "Trigger" control is something HAD puts on the inside, the "OD Trim". Then that leaves the Overdrive Level control. Where's that? There's obviously the Ratio control there "labeled Level". Also, no Bass or Mid switch. Accent knob on the later amps? Weird! Probably a clone.
