I had a dream

Post by HiGain »

Guys,

Last night I actually had a dream that I was cranking up a Vox-style amp that I bought and modified to Rocket specs. The el84s sounded soooo incredible. It was *that* tone. Only problem, is I haven't modified it to Rocket specs yet.

So, here's the question. Does anyone know definitively what the ts values are? I've been inspired.

Thanks,
Jake

OK, no thoughts? Mark A's schematic calls for 500pF treble cap and 1k "mid" resistor, while Mark T's schematic calls for 50pF and 10K. One looks to have much more mids than the other. I guess I'll try both and see what I like.

I've rebuilt a Mesa Blue Angel to Rocket specs but with the Liverpool tone circuit and reverb. What a great sounding amp! :P

The 500pf bright cap is important. smaller values don't give you enough high mids. Also the filtering as per the Rocket circuit is a big part of the tone and dynamics.

I'm using a Vox style reverb that feeds into the other side of the PI from the input.

Try thr Liverpool tone circuit, you may like it better than the Vox style circuit, I sure do...
