Just popping 'round to say hi =]

Post by V!N »

Hey lads and (any ?) lasses !

I've been reading a lot here. Using the search function answered most of my questions, but not all of them. But before just spouting questions out of the blue, I thought I'd just pop 'round here and say hi. =]

Hi !

And with that out of the way, let me say I like this place already ! Friendly and honest folks who really seem to know their stuff. Quite different from posts like "which way should my resistors point" on some fora.

Sooner, rather than later, I hope to start building a clone of that elusive amp that was named after a railroad accident. In the spirit of the good man who came up with it, I plan on using the best stuff available. Both what I've read here so far (Scumbacks, Tonesluts) and what has worked for me before on previous builds (Westlabs, Clarostats, SoZo's)

Looking forward to start cracking on this and to bug you lot with a bunch of stupid questions. =]

yours,

V!N

Welcome VIN. You'll find building TrainWrecks to be fun and rewarding, and the community here will be very helpful, I am sure.

As a start, I'd recommend sening a private msg to Allynmey. Allyn is selling chassis products for both the Express and the Liverpool. They are partially punched, saving a great deal of time, and they are fantastic quality at a great price. You seem to already know about the Toneslut trannies - the trannies of choice for sure. Also be sure to download and read Ron's build guide - a fantastic compilation and enormously helpful.

Don' forget the Amp Garage rules (you did read the rules when you signed up, didn't you?). If you build it, you most post pictures and clips or suffer ridicule from all on this foum :D

Enjoy the journey!

Welcome! You'll find a wealth of information and a lot of GREAT people here. There's nothing more satisfying than playing through an amp you built yourself and that sounds better than anything you ever bought :D
